The week 7 paper

Here is the week 7 paper. I submitted today - a short while ago.

A Comparison of Information Systems - EISs, DSS, and MISs
(Paper compares management information systems, decision support systems, and enterprise information systems focusing more on enterprise information systems. Prepared for the PhD-level Information Technology Decision Support course at NCU.)

Working on the typology

I am making progress with the typology. I found very useful information on the internet, such as an organization/summary of collaboration tools in Pinterest. I want to come up with my own organization. Work continues.

Next assignment

For the next assignment, I need to create a taxonomy of collaborative applications using information from last week's assignment. I started working on the assignment this morning (a few hours ago). There was some drama. There was a problem with files for last week's assignment on my USB (thumb) drive - I think the file format changed (very strange!). I still need to work on retrieving those files.

I completed the assignment yesterday so it is still "fresh in my memory." I pulled together ideas from the last presentation and options/applications for collaboration:

Work continues!

Week 4 assignment completed and submitted

I ended up preparing the presentation without information/knowledge from managers and directors in the field (collected from interviews designed for the assignment). I managed to find articles with interviews and surveys, which helped tremendously. I even found a useful video.
I think the assignment turned out great (I like it a lot)!! I think I connected dots I would not have otherwise connected.

Contributions of business unit leaders in problem solving and decision-making at the organization level

Week 4 assignment

For the week 4 assignment, I need to interview three (3) managers or directors that work for the same organization. I worked on the questions (available at: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1pzJqai7NOI8OHQbjYPxOu7h7FwAGfYAPtY_qVxe9gIc/edit?usp=sharing). I need the people!

Hopefully, this will all work out. I may have to submit an assignment that uses comments/information from articles and other written material (rather than responses to my interview questions). Time will tell.

Assignment submitted

Assignment (presentation) completed and submitted. It was a lot of work. I spent a lot of time "hunting" for information on Amazon.com. I did not request information from the company.

Presentation (inPDF format with notes):

Week 2 assignment in progress

I just spent some time searching for articles and other resources in the NCU library. When I started the search, I was thinking of selecting the Carmax 'sale of unrepaired, open recalls' problem for the presentation (an article on this: http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-carmax-recalled-car-sales-20150610-story.html). I finally decided on a pricing problem (not for Carmax). This is better because I have evidence of the use of data mining for the decision. This should be an interesting assignment.
